SoftPaw Foundation was created with a simple belief: the most effective way to help cats is to prevent suffering before it starts.
Every year, countless kittens are born into situations where they may never receive veterinary care, be responsibly rehomed, or have the opportunity to live healthy lives. Many come from unplanned litters on farms, outdoor cat populations, backyard breeding situations, or homes that lack the resources to provide proper care.
While many organizations focus on rescuing cats after they enter shelters, SoftPaw Foundation is committed to addressing the problem at its source.
We work directly within our community to support spay and neuter initiatives, provide veterinary care to vulnerable cats and kittens, and ensure that kittens born into at-risk situations have a safe path to responsible adoption. By reducing the number of unwanted litters and increasing access to care, we aim to create long-term solutions that benefit both cats and the communities they live in.
SoftPaw Foundation believes that rescue is about more than saving individual lives. It's about creating lasting change. Every cat that is spayed or neutered, every kitten that receives medical care, and every responsible adoption helps prevent future suffering and reduces the strain on shelters and rescues.
Our vision is a future where fewer cats are born into hardship, fewer animals experience neglect or abandonment, and every cat has the opportunity to live a safe, healthy, and loved life.
Together, we can break the cycle before it begins.

Our Story
How We Began:
A Journey of Love
SoftPaw Foundation was born from a deep love of cats and a dream that stayed with founder Jessica Barrett for years. As she watched shelters and rescues become increasingly overwhelmed, she couldn't ignore the growing number of cats and kittens in need of help. It was heartbreaking to see organizations stretched beyond capacity while the cycle of overpopulation continued.
The more Jessica learned, the more she realized that the solution wasn't just rescuing cats after they entered the system...it was addressing the problem at its source. While rescue work remains essential, she believed that meaningful change could only happen by preventing unwanted litters before they begin.
With that vision, SoftPaw Foundation was created to focus on prevention, education, spay and neuter support, and responsible rehoming. Our goal is simple: reduce cat overpopulation, ease the burden on shelters and rescues, and create a future where fewer cats are born into hardship and more are given the chance to thrive.
